Kirra Tours Standard Terms & Conditions
Over the years we have carefully refined our tour processes to ensure a safe, stress-free New Zealand tour. Kirra Tours New Zealand – Terms & Conditions
Travelling with Kirra Tours should be a relaxed and worry-free experience. These Terms & Conditions outline what you can expect from us, and what we require from you. By booking with Kirra Tours Limited Partnership (“Kirra”, “we”, “us”), you acknowledge and accept these Terms.
1. Contracting Party
All references to “Kirra” or “Kirra Tours” in these Terms mean Kirra Tours NZ Limited, the company responsible for your booking.
2. Prices & Currency
- All prices are inclusive of tax.
- New Zealand products are priced in NZD.
- Prices shown on our website may be rounded; the final charge may vary by up to ±$0.50.
- Tours are valid only for the named passenger and are non-transferable.
3. Deposits & Payments
- A minimum of a $200 deposit is required at the time of booking.
- Full payment is required within 6 months of booking or at least 31 days before departure (whichever comes first).
- By booking with a deposit, you agree to pay the balance at the confirmed booking price, regardless of later promotions.
- If full payment is not received on time, Kirra reserves the right to cancel the booking without refund.
- Deposits and full payments are non-refundable and non-transferable, except as outlined in Kirra Tours’ Cancellation Policy.
4. Inclusions & Exclusions
- Your booking includes only the items specified in writing by Kirra at the time of booking.
- Twin share accommodation is gender-split for solo travellers when booking a twin
- Meals, activities, and accommodation are provided as per your itinerary.
5. Special Requests
- All special requests (including dietary requirements) must be advised in writing at least 45 days prior to departure.
- We will pass on requests to our suppliers, but cannot guarantee availability.
6. Published Information & Itinerary Changes
- We aim to keep departure times, itineraries, and details accurate. However, events beyond our control (e.g. weather, road closures, political unrest) may require changes.
- If this occurs, we’ll do our best to minimise disruption and keep you informed, but we are not liable for resulting costs or losses.
- Updated information published online (shown with a “valid from” date) replaces older brochures or materials.
- Complimentary (“free”) items are not part of your ticket price, carry no cash value, and are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- If Kirra cancels all or part of a trip, you will be offered an alternative or refund (pro-rata if partial).
7. Significant Changes & Your Rights (EU Travellers)
For packages covered by EU Package Travel regulations, if we make a significant change before departure (e.g. major itinerary change, change of destination/accommodation type, or a price increase over 8%), you will be offered the choice to:
- Accept the change (with price adjustment if applicable), or
- Accept an alternative trip (of equal or higher value at no extra cost, or a lower-value option with a refund of the difference), or
- Cancel and receive a full refund within 14 days.
- If a significant change occurs after your trip has started, and it substantially affects agreed services, we will make suitable alternative arrangements at no extra cost. If this is not possible, you may be entitled to a price reduction and/or compensation, except where caused by unavoidable extraordinary circumstances beyond our control.
8. Cancellation Policy
- 31+ days before departure:
- If fully paid direct with Kirra: full refund (less card fees).
- If deposit paid direct: refund minus the non-refundable $200 deposit.
- If booked via an agent: their terms apply.
- 30 days or less before departure or no-show: 100% non-refundable and non-transferable.
- All cancellations must be made through your original booking channel.
9. Health & Fitness
- By booking, you warrant that you and all passengers in your booking are fit to travel.
- You agree to indemnify Kirra against claims arising from health issues during or after your tour.
- Kirra may, at its discretion, refuse travel or remove passengers deemed unfit to continue.
- Our tours are active; a reasonable level of fitness is required.
10. Minors
- Passengers under 16 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
11. Safety
- You must follow crew instructions at all times for your safety and the safety of others.
- Failure to comply may result in restricted access or removal from the tour without refund.
12. Luggage
- Limit: one suitcase (max 23kg / 44lbs) plus a small carry-on unless prior arrangement is sort with Kirra Tours NZ Limited.
- Kirra is not responsible for loss or damage to luggage, except where caused by our proven negligence.
- We strongly recommend adequate travel insurance, as luggage left in vehicles overnight is at your own risk.
13. Travel Insurance
- Travel insurance is compulsory and not included in your package.
- Your policy must cover: accidents, illness, death, pre-existing conditions, emergency repatriation (including helicopter/air ambulance), and personal liability.
- We recommend it also covers cancellation/curtailment, loss of personal items, and natural disasters.
- Failure to provide proof may result in cancellation or removal from the tour without refund.
- Kirra is not responsible for lost possessions.
14. Accident Compensation Scheme (NZ only)
- New Zealand has a no-fault accident compensation scheme (ACC). You cannot sue for personal injury in New Zealand, except for exemplary damages.
- ACC assistance is limited; we recommend arranging your own additional insurance.
15. Third-Party Services & Independent Activities
- Some services (e.g. accommodation, activities) are provided by third-party operators.
- Even if arranged or represented by Kirra, your contract is directly with the supplier.
- Kirra is not liable for the actions, omissions, or quality of these operators.
- If an included service is cancelled, we will try to offer a fair resolution (e.g. partial refund or alternative).
- If misrepresented by a booking agent, you must resolve it directly with them.
- Any independent activities you choose are entirely at your own risk and subject to the supplier’s terms.
16. Complaints
- Any concerns during travel should be reported immediately to your Tour Director so we can resolve them.
- If unresolved, please email reservations@kirratours.co.nz as soon as possible and no later than 30 days after your tour ends.
- Claims submitted after this time will not be considered.
17. Privacy
- We will only contact you with information necessary to deliver your booking, unless you opt in to marketing.
- You may opt out at any time, but then it is your responsibility to stay updated about trip information.

18. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
- These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
- The parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
19. Illustrations
- Photographs used in brochures or online are genuine but are illustrative only. They do not guarantee that the specific scenes or experiences will be encountered on every tour.
