Depart: 5:00pm (departure times subject to tidal conditions).

Sydney owes much of its splendour to its magnificent harbour. Departing by ship provides an unequalled impression, showing off the city’s famous landmarks: the dramatic white sails of the iconic Opera House and the celebrated Harbour Bridge, looming over the skyline.

While at sea enjoy the onboard facilities, world-class cuisine and the entertainment.

Arrive: 8:00am | Depart: 6.30pm.

Melbourne is consistently voted one of the world’s most liveable cities and for good reason. This is Australia’s cosmopolitan heart with cutting-edge art and architecture, historic galleries, attractions and museums, plus a dizzying range of restaurants, bistros, markets and bars.

Relax and enjoy the comforts of your cruise ship.

Arrive: 8:00am | Depart: 11.00pm

Tasmania is home to stunning landscapes, old-growth forests and exceptional local produce. Hobart, its capital, is compact enough to easily explore on foot. Start at the sandstone area of Salamanca Place with its hip galleries, artist studios and bustling cafés and bars, and then roam the quaint streets of Battery Point, one of Hobart’s oldest neighbourhoods.

Cruise across the Tasman Sea to the Land of the Long White Cloud.

Arrive: 8:00am | Depart: 9.00am

Milford Sound sits on the west coast of New Zealand’s South Island and was first called the Eighth Wonder of the World by Rudyard Kipling. The most breathtaking views are arguably those from the water with the sheer rock faces looming above your ship as you sail through this majestic landscape. After Milford Sound, we continue cruising the Fiordland National Park. This stunning park encompasses mountains, lakes, fjords and rainforests. The natural wonders continue offshore with seals, dolphins and whales frequently spotted in the waters.

Arrive: 9:00am | Depart: 6.00pm

The distinctly Scottish city of Dunedin was named after the Scottish Gaelic name for Edinburgh. Dunedin’s prominence during the gold rush in the late 19th century resulted in many grand Victorian and Edwardian buildings. The magnificent Dunedin Railway Station and Larnach Castle have been restored to their full glory.

Arrive: 7:00am | Depart: 6.00pm

With a distinctly continental flair, which stands out against the country’s Maori roots and British colonial history, Akaroa is New Zealand’s only town to have originally been established by the French. The long harbour of Akaroa sits along the Banks Peninsula, about 80 kilometres south of Christchurch.

Arrive: 10:00am | Depart: 8.00pm

Just north of Blenheim, the petite and picturesque port town of Picton is your starting point for exploring the region of Marlborough. This seaside gateway with ferry service to the North Island connects the majestic maritime beauty known as Queen Charlotte Sound to the luscious wine country of Marlborough.

Arrive: 8:00am | Depart: 5.00pm

New Zealand’s cool little capital is located at the southern tip of the North Island, meaning it’s blessed with a beautiful waterfront, fresh seafood. Wellington is also known for culture and cuisine. Learn about Maori history and Kiwiana at Te Papa, the national museum.

Arrive: 7:00am | Depart: 2.00pm

Napier has a perfect mix of natural and manmade beauty. The historic district, which was mostly constructed in the 1930s after a massive earthquake and subsequent fires destroyed the city in 1931, was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. Surrounded by the rolling vineyards of the Hawke’s Bay wine region, Napier has attracted a host of culinary innovators that has put it on the foodie map.

Arrive: 8:00am | Depart: 7.00pm

The curved shoreline of the Bay of Plenty is home to incredible surfing, white-sand beaches and New Zealand’s only active marine volcano. The city offers visitors several water-focused activities, like sailing and kayaking, as well as drier alternatives such as shopping and people-watching at a café in the historic village.

Arrive: 7:00am

New Zealand’s biggest city, Auckland, is multicultural and cosmopolitan, with sizeable Polynesian, Asian and Maori populations enriching its history and broadening the palate. Sky Tower is one of Auckland’s top tourist attractions, from which you can get a bird’s-eye view of the gateway to Aotearoa.

At the conclusion of your cruise, a Kirra Tours representative will greet you at the cruise terminal with transport waiting to take you to your downtown city hotel.

On day 18, enjoy a welcome dinner and drinks with your fellow travellers.

Enjoy a self-guided tour through the Treaty House, the Maori Meeting House and War Canoe. Later this afternoon, board your launch for the scenic cruise to the Cape Brett Lighthouse and the famous ‘Hole in the Rock’.

Enjoy a free day to explore and experience the beauty of the Bay of Islands. Your Coach Captain will happily assist with arranging optional activities for you. Why not try a full day tour to Cape Reinga, New Zealand’s northern most point. Alternatively, explore the township of Russell, New Zealand’s first settlement and visit its historic Church, Mission House and Museum.

Leaving Paihia, travel south through Whangarei to Warkworth and on to Auckland. Cross the Bombay Hills to the lush farmlands of the Waikato then on to the geothermal wonderland of Rotorua, the centre of Maori culture and famous for its geysers, boiling mud pools and steaming craters.

Stay: Sudima Lake Rotorua (2 nights)

Today begins with a visit to the Agrodome to see a unique New Zealand farm show. Visit Rainbow Springs to learn about native flora and fauna, including the famous Kiwi bird. This is followed by the spectacular Skyline Gondola which offers superb views over the city, lake and mountains and for those wanting a little excitement, why not try a Luge ride with our compliments. Enjoy some free time this afternoon before visiting Tamaki Village for an evening of fun and culture. You will experience a traditionally prepared Maori Hangi (feast) followed by a cultural performance featuring Maori songs, chants and dance including the stirring haka.

View the mighty Huka Falls and the Wairakei Geothermal project before stopping at Lake Taupo, the largest in New Zealand. Continue on to Napier, often regarded as the world’s Art Deco capital. On arrival, enjoy a locally guided walking tour of the city.

Stay: Scenic Te Pania Hotel

Orchards and vineyards give way to farmland as you travel into the rural heartland of the Wairarapa region. Stop at historic Greytown to view excellent examples of Victorian colonial architecture before travelling over the Rimutaka Ranges to Wellington, the nation’s capital, where you enjoy a city tour on arrival.
