Turangi

Turangi is as famous for fishing as it is for adrenalin sports. Just 4km from Lake Taupo, the Tongariro River is filled with trout, replenished through a successful breeding program operated by the Tongariro National Trout Centre. Visitors will find the underwater viewing area fascinating and anglers will be excited to see the size of trout swimming on the other side of the glass - the largest trout caught was just over eight kilos!

If heart pumping action is your attraction to Turangi, 'adventure central' won't let you down. The list of pursuits includes white water rafting, jet boating, 4x4 motor biking, tandem skydiving, bungy jumping, horse trekking, parasailing, replica race car driving, snow boarding, mountain boarding, mountain biking, rock climbing, abseiling and, of course, skiing in the Tongariro National Park at Whakapapa. After an active day, the thermal pools will surely be appreciated.
